If i want to install 10g binaries on server already having 9i binaries do i need to have separate .profile for that as i need to install 10g on separate oracle home. Can same oracle user own more than one binaries.IF same oracle user can own more than one binaries the new values for the variables like oracle_home and path will reside in same .profile

After installing, you use "oraenv" to set the oracle sid and home you want for each database (if you recorded them in oratab).

Thanks Michel. For different databases i can run oraenv. But what abt two different oracle softwares.Do i neeed to create different users to own two different binaries. If one oracle user can own both oracle 9i and 10g binaries then variables required for both the binaries will be in the same .profile or what???

No, each time you want to use a database you run oraenv to select it.
