Is it possible to change 'internal' password using 'alter user' command

Yes....you can change Internal password, but not through Alter User command. You can you OS command i.e. passwd80 ... it's create physical password file according your Oracle SID name.
For more detail and syntax pls look into Manual.

Hi,

you can change the internal password by changeing the sys user password.

It will reflect to internal user also.
