A friend tried to do a backup of his Ora Database by copying the folders on tape while the Database was open(he didn't know no better). He played the folders back onto the system and "bingo". Is there any way to restore the Database?
Immediate help is needed. Thanks in advance.

Hi,

He can 'startup mount' the database,
and issue 'recover database until cancel using backup control file;'
(provided he restored the contol file also from the tape)

He may lose some data which are inserted or modified after the backup and before the restore.

Bala.
