Hi,
I'm trying to connect two computers (the oracle client - on windows vista) and the oracle database (windows XP) but have been facing some difficulties.
Then a senior colleague advised i change the hostname in the tnsnames.ora file to the IP address of the 'server'.
I did that and then tried connecting in SQL*PLUS using the following

Quote:
system/dudu@dbase1

but it keeps telling me something like

Quote:
cannot parse tnsnames.ora file

Please any idea on how to get them connected so i can actually query the database.

P.S. I'm (so to say) a beginner. please help
