Hi All, what is meaning for port number,in listener.ora file associated with ? is there any difference for port number in windows & in linux server.,?

This is the same thing in any OS as it is not an OS notion but a network one.

Different ports for different protocols and services. As my good friend BlackSwan said, this is a basic network concept, irrespective of OS. You can read much more about it at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_TCP_and_UDP_port_numbers.

Or simply google 'standard network ports'
