I think I have a similar prob - I want to backup my database from DBA ( logged in via OMS not standalone) and I get the ORA - 01017 but before this I would get : The preferred credentials are not set to 'SYSDBA' and there is no default back up configuration. You can either update the prferred credentials for this database in the Console or create a back up configuration and overide the preferred credentials.
So I did excatly that; the users I had set up under that database, i gave 'em SYSDBA. But then again when i looged into the datasbe as system/manager why did the error message still appear as he has SYSDBA? Am I missing something?
My initsid.ora is fine with trespect to the parameters mentioned above.
