Master Item UoM changes--anyone know how without creating a new p/n? [message #195050]

This one is a biter. I've been told that once the Master Item is saved, the UoM for the part number created cannot be changed. At least, that's what our gurus are telling me for our 11.03 application. Anyone know any differently?
