Any existing APIs for creating documents (i.e. PO) or approval? [message #203413]

The performance and the steps involved in the current version of OFA (11.5.5, will upgrade to 11.5.10)is too low and complicated.
The user complains and ask if there is any way to skip some repeating steps in creating document (especially Purchasing Order) and the approval.
My guess is to use any existing APIs in OFA to trigger some processes automatically once user executes some actions. However, I can rarely find information of APIs in the web.
Can someone here provide some information about the APIs I can call, or share your similar experience and work around?
