I have inherited an Oracle Financials System utilising General Ledger and Accounts Payable modules. The Company has now moved to a different accounting system and the existing server is kept on-line only to satisfy occasional historical tax-authority queries. The overheads in keeping the server on-line are high and I'm looking to decommission the system and backup the data in some kind of flat-file format that will allow our accountants the ability to perform the necessary historical searches with main stream office tools e.g. Excel. Has anyone got experience in this process or can make any suggestions?
