Hi

My production database is in dedicated server configuration. At peak hours when more users are connected to my database it hangs. Is it necesary to change server configuration from dedicated to shared. Is shared server configuration requires downtime.

You should find the REAL cause of this problem before ANYTHING is changed.

>Is it necesary to change server configuration from dedicated to shared.
My reading between the lines is that you suspect that the number of users causes the "hang".
BUT if you switch from dedicated to shared won't that allow MORE users into the database & make the problem worse?

>Is shared server configuration requires downtime.
Yes, but about a decade ago I switched from shared to dedicated & saw MAJOR performance boost.

My gut reaction is that somebody is grasping at straws for a "fix".

IMO, don't do anything without PRIOR testing.
