Hi Experts,

Need Information:

1. Tables need to migrate from LONG datatype to LOB datatypes (BFILE, BLOB, CLOB, and NCLOB).

2. Oracle recommends migrating any LONG data to the CLOB type, and any LONG RAW data to the BLOB type

pls comment.

Thnx
Atul

Are you posting all your interview questions?

Nothing to comment, do what Oracle says.

Hi,
Am new here, hope i wont get any violent reaction with my reply.
My answer is actually by the book.

So here it goes.

LONG is only used for backward compatibility. So i guess, the reason Oracle suggests to use CLOB instead of LONG datatype because maybe in the future release of Oracle, LONG will soon be decommissioned. Razz
