Hi,

Basically ATO means Assemble to order. These means that in order for the Sale of these items , there are other component items that needs to be processed too.

As a simple example, assume car brought to an Assembling unit can be an ATO item , where the component items such as the body parts , machineries, wheel etc. are all manufactured outside this unit.

When the sale of this Item (Car) is made , it ensures that the component items are available and processed to form the end product.

In fact , when the ATO items are processed ,it creates WIP Jobs inorder to assemble the component items.

The relation between the ATO item (assembly Item) and the component items are created in BOM (BIll of materials)

In case of any more queries , please revert.

Regards
Vinod
